The Dragon and the Turle Go On Safari

The Dragon and the Turtle Go On Safari by Donita K. Paul, Evangeline Denmark, and Vincent Nguyen (illustrator) [WaterBrook Press (January 11, 2011)] is a tale of imagination, adventure, and friendship. Padraig the dragon and Roger the turtle set out for a night of adventure at the base of Mount Sillymanborrow. Since it is dark outside, they are hearing all kinds of sounds from within their tent. Finally they decide to check one out that sounds like a baby leopard that needs to be rescued. Their adventure continues when their flashlight soon quits working.

I thought the pictures were adorable but I found some of the script hard for a child to understand. I was also wondering if I was pronouncing 'Padraig' correctly. (Yes, I worry about things like that.) I thought the story at the end about the 'Legend of Mount Sillymanborrow' was hilarious but the kids, not so much. As a whole, the story didn't hold their interest as much as I hoped it would.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review
