The Girl's Still Got It by Liz Curtis Higgs

I definitely loved this book about Ruth by Liz Curtis Higgs. Liz gave me a different insight into the book and created scenes that my mind hadn't "seen" or thought of before. I was definitely drawn into the story much more by the author's viewpoint and dramatization of the story. At the time I was reading this book, I was by my daughter's side supporting her through her 3rd birth which meant a 3rd baby born early and in NICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit). Her baby was whisked away to Chldren's Hospital in Little Rock and I went with our daughter to stay by her side while the Dad stayed with the little ones at home. I gave up my vacation time and office work in order to give our daughter the emotional support she needed during this time. So while I was in the waiting room during the day I started reading this book and realized how Ruth also "gave up" the life she once knew and and indeed, abandoned it, to support her mother-in-law. It is a precious story and I definitely learned concepts I hadn't seen before. This one I love: "Beloved, this story isn't about her, not at the core. It's about our Sovereign God, who has the power to change our lives, our circumstances, our hearts." God richly rewarded Ruth's obedience. And He rewards ours as well. Oh, and my vacation time? My Director compensated for that. Oh yes, God is at work today and wants to bless us beyond our imagination!! I received this book in exchange for a book review from Multnomah Publishers. This review is my own opinion.
